FP1 & Sprint Qualifying Data Drop: What We Learned

The F1 Fantasy Dutch GP 2026 picture became much clearer after FP1 and Sprint Qualifying. Kimi Antonelli topped practice, but George Russell confirmed Mercedes’ single-lap pace by taking Sprint pole ahead of Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc, with the top four separated by less than a tenth of a second. Antonelli’s P5 is less concerning after floor damage compromised his session, while Ferrari remain firmly in contention despite Lewis Hamilton managing only P7. Max Verstappen’s struggles continued in P6, and Liam Lawson reached P11 on his Red Bull return. Overall, Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari look tightly matched, making our Ferrari-Mercedes constructor pairing difficult to move away from.

Fantasy Implications from the Paddock

  • Mercedes: Their performance in both FP1 and Sprint Qualifying shows their upgrade appears to have delivered immediately.
  • Liam Lawson: His promotion to Red Bull in Isack Hadjar’s absence hasn’t created an obvious bargain. He qualified behind Arvid Lindblad and barely ahead of Yuki Tsunoda, who replaced him at Racing Bulls.
  • Max Verstappen: He seems to be struggling despite being at his home race. At his price, there are strong fantasy arguments for the Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren assets.

Final Strategy: We’re still avoiding the four-Tier-A-asset lineup, but swapping Alonso in for Stroll. Alonso looked stronger in practice, despite qualifying lower in Sprint Qualifying. His stronger practice pace could translate to better race performance on Sunday, where there are more points on offer.
