The Week Ahead
F1 Fantasy Miami GP 2026 arrives at a fascinating point in the season. After Kimi Antonelli’s win in Japan and another strong Mercedes result, fantasy players now have to decide whether to stick with the early-season front-runners or take a swing at McLaren’s expected Miami upgrade. Since this is a Sprint weekend, fantasy players have less data to work off of, with team lock happening before the Sprint race rather than before Qualifying. At Round 4, the season is still young, but budget momentum is already starting to matter.

The Circuit
Miami is a smooth, stop-start temporary circuit with three long straights, heavy braking zones, and a tight final sector that can punish tyres if cars get stuck in traffic. Passing should still be possible into the bigger braking zones, but under the 2026 regulations, DRS is gone, so the key is how drivers use Overtake Mode, Boost, and Straight Mode to manage energy and top speed. That makes racecraft less about waiting in a DRS train and more about deployment timing, recharge, and traction out of slow corners. Miami has usually leaned toward a one-stop race, so pit strategy may only open up if a Safety Car, VSC, or weather forces the field to react. The DNF rate hasn’t been extreme, but recent Miami weekends have produced enough neutralization and incident risk that positions-gained picks are tempting, especially in the midfield. The forecast is hot all weekend, with Sunday storm risk raising the chance of tyre stress and late chaos.

Fantasy Implications from F1 News
- Regulation changes: changes to energy management, Boost, MGU-K deployment, wet-weather ERS limits, and start safety systems come into effect this weekend. That could affect overtaking, race pace, and how much the first three races really predict Miami performance.
- McLaren: Team Principal Andrea Stella says the team will bring an “entirely new MCL40” to Miami and Canada, especially aerodynamically, after using the long break to refine the package. That makes Norris and Piastri the key risk/reward calls this week.
- FP1 extended: The only practice session of the weekend has been extended from 60 minutes to 90 minutes to allow the teams to get back into form after the long break. This also gives fantasy players a bit more data on track suitability and upgrade reliability.

KIMI ANTONELLI

Oliver Bearman unfortunately didn’t finish the race, but thankfully still rose $0.6M thanks to his performance in the previous two races. A couple driver changes to have better odds of building budget.
F1 Fantasy Miami GP 2026 – FAQ
Who should I Boost in F1 Fantasy for the Miami GP?
Boost Kimi Antonelli for Miami. He’s the safest play since Mercedes have won all three races so far, Antonelli leads the championship, and he’s already 39 fantasy points clear of George Russell. Alternatively, either of the Ferrari drivers provide similar value.
Is Miami good for overtaking in F1 Fantasy?
Miami is good but not an elite track for overtaking. The long straights and heavy braking zones create passing chances, especially with strong energy deployment under the 2026 regulations. Positions-gained picks are viable in the midfield, but they still need real race pace rather than just a poor starting position.
Who are the best value picks for F1 Fantasy at the Miami GP?
Liam Lawson now leads the field with 2.59 points per million and 16.7 points per weekend. Esteban Ocon is also a good pick because he leads the midfield in overtakes.
