Max Verstappen’s chances of getting his fifth title in 2026 are slim, but it is not impossible.

After winning the Singapore Grand Prix, Verstappen is still in the battle for World Champion. It would be an extremely tough battle, and Verstappen would need to have incredible luck.

There are two scenarios for how the end of the season can play out. Formula One is still committed to the Grands Prix in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, but with the way that things are playing out in the Middle East, it is likely that the season will end in Imola. If the races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi do happen, there will be 150 points left up for grabs. If the season ends in Imola, there would be only 125 points left.

Verstappen is 119 points behind Antonelli currently after his win in Singapore.

How The Two Scenarios Would Work Out

If Qatar and Abu Dhabi Happen:

With 150 points at stake, Verstappen would have to win at least two races. Antonelli would have to score no more than 30 points for the rest of the season. If he were to score more than 30 points, Verstappen would have to win every remaining Grand Prix.

If the Season Ends In Imola:

The points would be lowered to 125, so Verstappen would have to win every race, and Antonelli would have to run into some very bad luck.

In order for Max to win, Antonelli would have to score no more than 5 points for the remainder of the season. This is unlikely, and Max could be out of contention by the next race if Antonelli scores more than 5 points.

So, Verstappen’s chances of winning the World Champion title for the fifth time are extremely slim. It also depends on how the end of the season plays out.

But if we have learned anything, it’s not to doubt Max Verstappen.
