F1 Academy’s 2025 season comes to an end in Las Vegas this weekend, and the Drivers’ Championship title race is coming down to the wire. PREMA Racing’s Doriane Pin (supported by Mercedes) and MP Motorsport’s Maya Weug (supported by Ferrari) are separated by just nine points going into this weekend’s final two races in Las Vegas. Here’s how the F1 Academy title race breaks down:

Breaking down Maya Weug and Doriane Pin’s 2025 seasons

In driving, consistency matters and none have been more consistent than Pin and Weug this season. Both drivers have picked up points in every single race and have consistently led the field.

Interestingly, it has been the Ferrari-backed driver who has been more successful this season, finishing with three pole positions through eight races, including the last two at Zandvoort and Singapore.

Pin finished first in the first race of the year in Shanghai, but hasn’t won a race since. However, consistency is key- she has been in the top three consistently. Three third-place finishes and a second have her ahead by just under a dozen points on the year.

The difference this year was Montreal. Weug had electrical issues in Practice, which hampered her result in the race. This led to a brutal sixth-place finish for the MP Motorsport driver. A better finish could have had her in the lead at this point, but alas, that’s racing.

This could have also been a three-horse race, with Campos Racing’s Chloe Chambers (Supported by Red Bull) starting with three massive races in Shanghai, Jeddah, and Montreal. However, not finishing in points in the Netherlands or Singapore has led her to fall to fourth behind Rodin Motorsport’s Ella Lloyd (supported by McLaren). Alas, what could have been.

What’s on the line in Las Vegas?

This race is going to settle it all, and don’t be surprised if either driver ends up taking the crown. It’s a battle of the driver with the better overall finishes versus the more consistent finisher.

A total of 38 points are on the line in race points, with ten points awarded to the winner of Race 1 and 25 awarded to the winner of Race 2. The driver starting on pole in race two earns an additional two points, and the fastest lap earns one point.

The winner of Race 2 could also not be the winner overall. With the point standings being so close, there is a chance that Weug could win Race 2 and still lose the title due to a strong showing from Pin.

With the F1 Drivers’ Championship almost certainly going to Lando Norris this year, the F1 Academy Title is a must-watch this weekend in Las Vegas. This is a heavyweight clash between Mercedes and Ferrari for the Drivers’ Championship.

While both have been great this year, there is only room for one at the top. The winner of the F! Academy title not only receives the trophy but also earns a fully paid seat for a subsequent year.

The F1 Academy schedule is as follows in local times:

Race 1: Friday 6:15 pm GMT-8

Race 2: Saturday: 4:20 pm GMT-8

May the best driver win.
